Call For Directors – 2023 Season

Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre (ASGT), an outdoor community theatre celebrating its 57th anniversary, is seeking proposals from potential directors for two of the three productions planned for 2023 – “Head Over Heels” (Broadway Licensing) from May 25 to June 17 and “First Date” (Concord Theatricals) from June 29 to July 22. For both productions we are open to creative settings and interpretations. One production for 2023, “Footloose” from August 3 to September 3, was a director/show proposal and will be directed by Jerry Vess. We are seeking directors who have a passion to direct “under the stars” and understand and appreciate the rewards and challenges of presenting a musical outdoors in our historic setting across from the City Dock in downtown Annapolis.

Proposals should be fully developed with suggested staffing for key roles, if possible, and will be accepted on a rolling basis. Interviews will begin after October 20, 2022 with a goal of presenting recommendations to the Board of Directors in November. All proposals will be acknowledged. After review by the Artistic Committee, we may ask for references.

We offer small stipends for key artistic staff positions.
