2020 Season Update
ASGT’s Current Season Postponed Until 2021
Out of concern for the health and safety of our patrons, actors, designers, production teams, and volunteers, Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre’s Board of Directors has decided to postpone all shows scheduled for 2020 until the 2021 season. The 2021 season will feature the same three shows in the same order.
The decision to postpone this season was difficult. We had already assembled three outstanding artistic/production teams, conducted auditions, and secured talented performers for all three shows. Fortunately, all three directors-and, we hope, almost everyone else involved will be able to come back in 2021.
In addition, ASGT’s Buildings & Grounds Director had been busy since last fall overseeing improvements to our facility including a new stage floor, additional electrical outlets on the stage, and a new roof on our tech booth. In short, we were ready for the 2020 season-our 55th consecutive season of theatre under the stars.
Since the entire season is postponed, ASGT expects to realize very little income in 2020. Many of our expenses are set whether we perform or not, including production expenses already incurred, insurances, rental of storage space for costumes and props, utilities (at a reduced amount), and the building improvements already made.
We hope to see you at the theatre in 2021. Our actors will need your moral support and ASGT will need your financial support to regain the momentum we had going into the 2020 season. In the meantime, if you are able, we hope you will consider supporting Annapolis’ own theatre under the stars (click here for information).
Whether or not you can give at this time, thanks for all you do for ASGT and the arts in Annapolis. The Board, artists, technicians, and volunteers who call ASGT home look forward to entertaining you next summer.
