Artistic Involvement

Or a director. Or part of a chorus line. Or tooting your horn in the orchestra. Or stage managing, working a follow-spot, building a set, sewing a costume or helping backstage.

ASGT offers a wonderful opportunity for the artistic, aspiring and inspired among you to join one (or more) of our production “companies.” There are roles and jobs for everyone interested and dedicated to participating in — and learning about -- just what goes on behind the curtain.
(Well, that’s just a metaphor – we don’t have a curtain. But you understand what we mean!)

There are no barriers. All ages and levels of talent and experience are invited to join in. Of course, if you want to act, sing, dance or provide live music, you’ll have to participate in auditions and win your chance. In other off-stage areas, past experience will give you the opportunity take the lead or supervise others. But even if you lack previous involvement, don’t be discouraged from checking us out. Many participants at ASGT have gone on to bigger things in the theatre community. And many of those have returned to grace our stage once again.

A word about compensation. As a community theatre, the biggest rewards anyone receives from participation are personal satisfaction, valuable experience, and the pride of giving back. Actors are not paid, nor are backstage personnel or technical support personnel. Directors, choreographers and stage managers usually receive stipends. Music directors and orchestra members also receive stipends. Set designers and builders, and costumers and prop coordinators may or may not receive compensation. The Officers and Board Members of ASGT serve without compensation.
